Letter From The Founder No. 29

Tariffs, Triumphs, And A New '64

Hey folks,
It's been 80 days since my last letter but so, so much has changed. Since writing last, we have opened 20 new dealerships in the United States, and at the same time, Trump took office and began tariffing Canada among other nations. The effects of this trade war have been significant on our business, but we know that the bonds between the people of our two nations are much stronger than the actions of one rogue man. Like all else, this too shall pass, and we look forward to growing Beachman across the United States and abroad in the coming years.
I want our fellow Canadians to know that we are committed to protecting their ability to purchase our bikes. All of our costs for parts at Beachman are in USD, and despite the wide gap in currencies, we continue to charge the same price to Canadians in our currency as we always have, and we are absorbing those losses instead of passing them onto the Canadian consumer.
While the international playing field has been in turmoil, our team has been heads-down and hard at work, and have lots of updates for you.
We just released our 2025 '64 and they are now shipping across north America, have built a couple electric cars, and are soon to announce 2 new countries which will be selling Beachman bikes.
We also have some cool features on our customers, and some other interesting updates in this letter, so read on and enjoy.

Interview With A Beachman Owner: Marlo Onilla

This winter we took some time to sit down with one of our favourite Beachman riders and good friend Marlo. He was one of our earliest customers, and has always made unique and tasteful customizations to his bike, which I've become very fond of.

We worked with filmmaker Monty Langford to produce this short interview film, and I hope you enjoy it!

For prospective Beachman owners curious about getting a bike of your own, Marlo's perspective is perfect for those who live in a busy city.

New Bike, New Colours

The 2025 '64 is largely the same bike that our customers have come to love but with one massive upgrade: We've doubled the power of the powertrain. While the bike still comes limited to the legal e-bike limits, it now sports a 3000w motor capable of confidently riding double up hill at full speed, taking you off road in comfort, and generally improving reliability and motor lifetime by being underworked.

With the 2025 bike comes two new colours:

Flamingo Pink and Baja Sand!

We are loving them, and we hope you will too.

We Just Completed Our Latest Electric Car Build

The team at Beachman has been hard at work building bikes, but our expanding car & motorcycle conversion division has just finished its latest project: Rebuilding the entire electric system of Steam Whistle's famous Retro Electro.

This 1958 Chevrolet Apache pickup truck was originally converted to electric in 2011, but technology has come a long way since then, so we removed the entire electric drive train and started fresh, updating it to the Beachman standard.

Steve and Kyle (his new right hand man in electric builds) completed the build in record time, and are now looking forward to our upcoming projects, converting two Honda CB500 motorcycles into electric highway cruisers.

Videos of the builds will go up on our Beachman Garage youtube channel next month, so be sure to subscribe to the channel to keep an eye on those when they drop!

Lastly, if you or a friend is curious about converting your vintage car or motorcycle from gas to electric, send me an email and let's talk!

A New Custom Spec Has Dropped

The Scrambler Kit is now live for the '64, featuring an insanely cool 1970's style scrambler mod for our iconic '64.

The kit is $750 and sets your bike apart from the crowd.

The kit significantly improves the off-road capability of a Beachman, but it's still worth noting that the '64 is not a purpose built off-road dirt bike. Think desert roads, not trails paths.

The kit is meant to be added onto a new build, so if you want to upgrade your existing bike at home, we'll need to connect you with a shop capable of installing the upgrades.

And that's everything!
It's warming up here in Toronto, so I look forward to getting back on my bike and enjoying everything our city has to offer. Until then, it's back to having our heads down, pumping bikes out for the spring season.

See you down the road,
